What is Robotic Process Automation?

Filed under: — Marcus Tettmar @ 11:49 pm

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for Windows, is the intelligent robotic control of software running on Windows.

The process usually involves simulating user input – keystrokes and mouse events – to control the user interface of other applications, but can sometimes make use of programming interfaces exposed by other applications.

Robotic Process Automation software tools such as Macro Scheduler provide a specialized scripting language with functions that simplify activating windows and other UI elements and simulating mouse and keyboard events. Routines can be made to be intelligent, reacting to environmental signals and changes, and making logical decisions.

The software includes other features to make the creation of Robotic Process Automation routines easier, such as the Macro Recorder, WebRecorder, Code Builders and Wizards.

Advanced features like image recognition let your robots “see” the screen – making it possible to control anything that can be seen on the screen regardless of the technology used to create the applications to be automated. Image Recognition allows the software to react to visual cues, analogous to how a human would use the computer.
