Local Users Group

Post by Bob Hansen » Thu Jun 09, 2005 4:29 pm

Would you be interested in participating in a Macro Scheduler Users Group?

I am willing to host a Users Group for Macro Scheduler. Figured we could meet one or more times a year, probably on a Saturday, and swap Macro Scheduler war stories, techniques, and solve each others problems. We can also discuss Enhancement Requests and prioritize them from our perspective.

Logistics is tough, but that is just a problem to be resolved, not a reason not to proceed. I currently host Users Groups for other applications. I generally have had people from New England and New York show up as attendees.

Vote on the poll, add your comments to the forum. Would prefer comments made to the forum vs. using PM.
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,
Bob

Ah, how I do miss being in Boston. I would definatly attend if I were still back home. Unfortuantly I'm living in Seattle now and the commute would be a bit expensive. Of course unless it happens to fall on a day I'm back home visiting???? Well sound like a good plan. Wish I weren't in Microsoft land. To many .asp nuts and I'm all about open source. Well best of luck to you Bob you've definatly been a great add on in the mjtnet forum.

I agree, New England is a bit far for me to travel also. As for hosting in this area (Iowa and surrounding states) could be a possibility. I'll wait to see the responses to the concept.

Since this is the age of the internet how about a virtual meeting instead?

Another group I know of has used Team Speak http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php which is free and works very well (but only does audio/the equivalent of a conference call).

Rather disappointing response to the poll. It might be worth us sending an email out requesting feedback as not everyone frequents this forum. If you're interested let me know. MJT Net would certainly be interested in supporting such an event in some way.

Sending out an email would be good. Could send to all registered users with a link to this poll.

Perhaps mention that users have been considering creating User Group Meetings. If you reference the Forum as a place they can vote, then they get the benefit of feedback on the potential meetings, and they get exposed to all the other benefits of the forum.

What is curious though, is that only two votes cast out of 57 views to date.
Cannot be too hard to vote, must assume that all non-votes have no interest?

Will be watching my email.............

If there was a "I'm very interested in this program, and really appreciate the help from power users on this forum and the super support from MJT, but it's very unlikely I would ever attend a meeting" button I would have voted. But I would certainly watch a webcast, or take part in something online.

Annual Users Group Meeting

I think its interesting Bob.
If it could be fun and productive I'd come out. I tend to troll the forum mostly, I really should be more helpful..

To Me_again: You are right, I did not provide a "NO" option at all. And I cannot change the Poll, so will have to live with the results.

To edauthier: You are also right, fun is important. I have found that most attendees at these type of groups do have fun. A way of turning work into a hobby.

Its been nearly a year but this topic has popped up again. As I stated last year, travel ($$) might be difficult, but not impossible. Last year I said that I would be willing to host something local to my home. I think I've changed my mind. Based on the level of apparent interest, it would seem that one meeting locale would be more likely to succeed.

So... what does each and every individual that finds Macro Scheduler to be a valuable tool have to say about attending a Users Group meeting?

I know you're out there. Log on and express your opinion.

Later,
Dick

Hi Bob, Marcus, JRL and all...

I'm definitely interested in attending but travel/money might be an issue so attending virtually would be a great option.
