Hi, I'm considering purchasing Macro Scheduler but wondering if it will fit my need.
Let me first tell you what I want to automate:
I have a program which will be used to download stock quotes from a server with historical data. I want to create a list of several thousand entries (the stock tickers, like MSFT for instance) and then run a macro which in the correct location enters the next ticker from the list, downloads the data, and then saves it out locally on my harddrive.
Does this sound like an easy thing to create using Macro Scheduler? (I have a strong feeling it's going to be quite easy for me to make...)
Thanks in advance.
Question: Using a list of entries/waiting for task to finish

I don't really follow what you want to do. Are you talking about web pages here? Are you saying you have a list of several thousand web sites to navigate to, or is this a list of data to enter into one particular website and you wish to extract some data from the web page after entering the data? Do explain.

Hi, and thanks for answering.
No, I am not talking about webpages here.
I would run an application called Tradestation 8. It's a regular XP application. That application has extensive online capabilities and is connected to an online server with large amounts of historical data. I can, through functions in TS8, enter a symbol and then the program downloads historical data for that symbol. Using another function in the application, I can save those data out. The time it would take to download the data will vary quite a bit per symbol, and can range from 10 seconds to 5 minutes.
I want to repeat this process, with a large list of symbols, and expect it to take several weeks to finish. The macro would need to select the right options, enter the symbol (from the list of symbols), detect when the data downloading has completed, and then use the saveout function in the program before repeating the process.
I'm very curious if this would be possible to do using your program, and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Like I said, I do have a feeling that this is pretty easy stuff but I just want to be sure before I buy the program.

Yes, quite possibly Macro Scheduler can do what you want. This is the sort of thing Macro Scheduler is designed for. However, I can't make any guarantees without knowing the software and process first hand.
