I just loaded SP2 onto my system and it appears that FTP from msched
no longer works. This with 7.2.043 on XP/Pro. I have a nightly
script that does some "overnight" FTPing for me and I noticed that while
it was able to deal with the command-connection perfectly, msched
was never able to get a data connection [in either direction] set up.
I've put msched on the 'exceptions' list in the MS firewall, but that
didn't seem to help... is there some security setting in SP2 that is
causing msched to have trouble getting its dataconnection going?
Thanks!

Re: No FTP w/sp2?
A little more info: I've seen the Microsoft info about programs that run afoul of the new Windows Firewall. But I thought I"ve done what you're supposed to have to to allow FTPs to work: I have put msched on the 'Exceptions' list and I even put port 21 in the exceptions list [although I shouldn't have needed to].bernie wrote:I just loaded SP2 onto my system and it appears that FTP from msched

And I forgot to meniton one other things [and since I also forgot to log in before replying, I can't even edit the post..sigh..]: the only thing I can think of is that it might have something to do with Zone Alarm. I've been running Zone Alarm for forever now and I'm only running it together with WF out of laziness: ZA was always there and isntalling SP2 got me WF and the two seem to play OK together.

I hadn't heard that [in fact, I thought that the new 'security center' specifically DID deal with multiple firewalls and such], but it should be easy enough to try turning off WF.. I've gone with just ZA for years and while two independent lines of defense are better than one, I'd be happy enough just to stick with ZA.Anonymous wrote:Microsoft recommends you turn off WF if you use a third party firewall like ZA
Thanks for the info...
