Best Way to Automate IE

Post by MGuyM » Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:19 pm

While WebRecorder is probably the supported method here, I have been struggling with it working properly. Here is an Outline of what I am trying to accomplish and maybe someone will have a better way of doing it:

1. Go to Web Site
2. Submit Login & Password
3. Check the HeadTag to determine what Home Page resulted based on Login
4. Get Tag Data from resulting page.
5. If other Header, then Navigate to a subsequent page to get the same data in #4 (where my problem has been happening). WR is not Navigating to the subsequent page.
6. Write Data retrieve to a Log File
7. Log out
8. Repeat as necessary.

Any ideas? I'm grateful for any responses.
Thank You.

It is not a case of "the best way to automate IE" but the "best way to automate website X". The trouble is that every website is different. And different websites may require a different approach.
