Working on an image

This is a fancy question:

I take a photo of a book (automatically), using the flash.

Now I would like to find out, if the outcome is just too bright (means useless) in the middle. Does anybody have a suggestion, how to find out - automatically?

Next question: Would comparison of one`s own photo have chances to be compared with another photo on the internet? (Always concerning books.)

i had a simular problem.
Solved it bij first writing the file to disk, and than compare the size.
The size of a normal light picture is more then a picture with too much brightness.
For a jpg of 300x400 my "hysteresis" level was 11,6 kB
If the size of the file became under that I decrease the lights.
Maybe you can use this methode to get rid of your useless pictures.
