MS Upgrade / Uninstall Process?

Post by Me_again » Wed Jan 04, 2006 7:45 pm

What is the correct procedure for upgrading? I have two installed versions, 7.x and 8 beta, but only one MS listed in Control Panel Add/Remove software :?

I would like to install 8.0 and eliminate both older versions. I can backup all my .scp's, and I'm guessing 8.0 will install over one of the installed versions, but how do I know what I'm uninstalling? Or maybe I'll end up with 3 installs?

Help!

Odd, you should have two entries in add/remove programs. Anyway, it doesn't matter - Install 8.0 over the top of the one you want to upgrade. Then just delete the shortcuts and directory of the other one you don't want. No need to use the uninstaller.

P.S. Make sure you select the Minimal install option when you upgrade and install over a previous version. This will keep scripts and settings intact.
