Beginner tutorials / videos for dialog boxes?

Post by Dorian (MJT support) » Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:09 am

Hello peeps,

I'm wondering if there are any tutorials anywhere to ease me into the scary world of creating dialogs?

It's something I know absolutely nothing about. I had a fiddle this afternoon but it had me completely bewildered.

Have you looked at the dialog samples that come with the software? If you don't have the samples you can grab them from here:

Do have a look as there are a few dialog samples there.

As for dialog tutorials/videos - it's on the wish list. So much to do.

Ok. I just threw this together this morning (I say "threw" it actually took 2.5 hours - video tutorials aren't easy!).

http://www.mjtnet.com/demos/dialogs1.html

It's 10 minutes long and is just the very basics showing how to create a modal dialog and ask for some information from the user. I hope it is helpful.

Following on from this, as suggested at the end of the video, we could look at other objects and properties, and start to look at event handlers as well as using SetDialogProperty to set the value of a property at runtime.
