vista registry

Post by kpassaur » Wed May 06, 2009 9:37 am

I have been writing to the registry in XP with no problems, however in Vista it is not doing it. I can only assume it is an issue with Vista Security (as that is what I have found online). Does anyone know where you can always write to the registry in Vista? I cannot seem to find that.

Which part of the registry?

A standard user can NOT write to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

That requires Administrator privs.

This is the same whether you are using XP or Vista. Has always been the case.

A regular user should write to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
