Building on Bob's suggestion above, is there a "menu-way" of driving that other security video application? If so, try simulating the keystrokes in the macro and see if that works.

OK, so you now have a working script for your PC... so there are (probably) no more script issues.BillB wrote:The above post referred to 'not using c as a variable'. The script then works fine on my computer - but still not on the other.
Have you tried this on more than that one other PC? If there is a 3rd PC available to try it on, that may tell you something fast.
Other than that, something must be different on that other PC that is affecting the operation of the macro. It could be a lot of things. What have you checked into? Here's a quick list and I'm sure there are many more:
- caps lock key (OK)
- version of Macro Scheduler (assume its the same or same exe if compiled)
- operating system and patch level
- other apps running on the PC that may have hot keys and be interfering with the simulation of CTRL-c and CTRL-x (you could try shutting down all other non-required apps before testing)
Can we just confirm that on the problem PC, everything works properly when you hit the keys manually... but fails via macro... while on your good PC, it works properly both when done manually *and* via macro... is that right?

Thank again for the reply.
I can cinfirm the script works on my PC, and I have compiled it here and tranferred it to my other PC, Given the roblems that II have experienced I have bought a new PC specially to rum this script - the plan is that this is what it is used for, and so ther is almost no extra software on it - just as it came. Windows XP Professional with service pack 2. I have not networked it, so it has not been updated by Windows update - should I do this?
I have experienced some problems on other PCs as well - (hence I though I would get the nice new reliable one with no quirks!)
It is not caps lock.
I use a version compiled with the latest version of Macro Scheduler.
There are no other apps running.
You are right that I can do everything manually on the PC on which the script does not work.
If you have any other ideas about something that might be causing the difference I would be grateful! Any solution is what I am after!
Thanks again,

Bill, this simply HAS to be something really, really simple. I'm sure we can get this working. We must be missing something. Please call me at your earliest convenience and we'll do a BeamYourScreen session and I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out for you. I'm guessing you're based in the US. If so call me on +1 360 519 5383. UK number is +44 280 099 3431. If you are in the US then try to call me first thing your morning so as to catch me during working hours. We'll get it sorted!
