IE Explorer Issue

Post by Dave1142 » Mon Oct 17, 2016 6:02 pm

Well my keyboard finally died on my tough book. I have an identical computer, just installed windows 7 and all of my regular programs on a new hard drive. Have all the original factory files there. Everything is the same except when I try to record a macro IE 11 looks like its going to pop open. But it shuts off. All you get is a flash of the ie screen opening and closing. Did not have this issue on last identical computer. The only real difference in the machines is the size of the HD. IE 11 opens fine normally only having issue when trying to record a macro. Is there a permission I am missing somewhere? Advanced settings are all default and protected mode is turned off as well as all the safety features. No third party anti virus or adware except for the one that comes with windows 7(avg I think). Any ideas on this?

Hi,

Never heard of this happening before. Definitely not a security setting as far as I am aware. IE shouldn't just suddenly terminate like that.

Could it be security software perhaps? Is it intercepting the opening of IE and thinking it is malicious so closing it? Just a guess. Try disabling your security software (if you have any) and see what happens.

Failing that maybe try reinstalling IE? Maybe a component is missing. Try running this in a command prompt:

sfc /scannow
