Further to my other posts, I wonder if there is a set of windows instructions (instead of the dll i was looking for) to open a new email window?

There's a bunch of params which could be used with MSOutlook to open a new mail window ad hoc.
But there's still your main issue: how to detect which app is used as the standard mail client ...
