Text capture commands fail with Internet Explorer 9 Beta

Post by bnc1 » Fri Oct 08, 2010 12:06 pm

I was playing around with the new Internet Explorer 9 Beta on my test system which is using Windows 7 Pro x64 and Macro Scheduler 12.0.9.

IE9 Beta definitely has some performance improvements over IE8 but some other changes are not to my liking

I noticed some Macro Scheduler text capture commands that don't work the same as they did when using IE8. WaitScreenText, GetTextatPoint and GetWindowTextex all fail in that they do not return any data. When using IE8 on the same websites with the same OS and MSched, the text capture commands work fine :?: :?:

Obviously IE9 is still in beta and things can change, but I just wonder if this will be a permanent issue going forward :?: :D

Hi,

Yes, we've noticed the same thing. IE9 is obviously not rendering text using the TextOut APIs. Chrome is the same. Unfortunately that means we can't hook into it and view the text. A different approach is needed. It already exists with WebRecorder or VBScript/COM/DOM. Examples on the forum.

Did you know we are now offering affordable monthly subscriptions for Macro Scheduler Standard?
