Duplicate Icons in tray
I loaded the evaluation copy and then uninstalled it. Purchased the standard version and now I have two gear icons in my tray. How can I elimate one from coming up? Thanks

You must have two copies of Macro Scheduler running. How many instances of msched.exe are showing in Task Manager?

Move the one instance of Macro Scheduler from your startup folder and put it somewhere where you can find it later, perhaps your desktop if there is not already one on your desktop. Restart your computer and see if Macro Scheduler starts up.
If Macro Scheduler starts and there is not a shortcut for it in the startup folder, then it is starting from someplace that is non standard for the Macro Scheduler installer. Did you perhaps install it as a service? Is it in the Win.ini file? (or is it system.ini? Its been so long.) Run msconfig and look for msched.exe. Do you have it in an autoexec.bat file? Is it in one of the Run folders in the registry? Bottom line is.. its being started from someplace...
Hope this helps,
Dick

In that case you must have two shortcuts in your Startup folder OR you could have one in your All User's startup folder and one in your profile's startup folder. Do this:
Right click on Start and select "Explore All Users".
- Check under All Users/Start Menu/Programs/Startup
- Check under /Start Menu/Programs/Startup
replace with your username. Is there a shortcut in each one? If so, delete one of them.
If there's only one you could also check in the registry under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
We don't touch either of those locations. But I guess someone/something else could have put something there.

Hi awjwsc, awjwsc wrote:Bingo!! It was under all users and each individual user login. Thanks!!
Interesting, so what happened might be:
- 1) evaluation version install created a startup entry either under "all users" or "the individual user"
2) evaluation version uninstall might have left its startup entry in place
3) standard version install created a startup entry in the "other place" and you ended up with two
Marcus, if 2) happened above, then is there a problem with the evaluation version installer itself that could be fixed so others don't have this happen? The uninstall should remove all startup entries right? Hmm... or maybe it only removes a startup entry that it created (user could have added more manually as well).
Seems it would be easy to test if this was caused by a problem in the evaluation version installer by... running the evaluation version install on a different machine, then immediately uninstalling it and see if a startup entry is left behind in either of those places.

Correct. It does remove the startup shortcut. The uninstall should remove all startup entries right
