speech timer for powerpoint presentation

Post by bigfoot8 » Mon Sep 18, 2006 9:57 pm

Hi,
I am trying to build a simple speech timer that will indicate to a Powerpoint presenter when his time is almost up.
I easily created a macro that plays a sound file 3 minutes and then 1 minute before his time is up. These play in the background and do not affect the presentation.
My question is how do I also create a small visual sign (such as a yellow alert and red alert) that will come up briefly in the corner of the screen (together with the sound file), while the presentation is still running, and whithout disrupting it (coming out of presentation mode). I guess it has to be floating in front of the presentation (again without disrupting it).
Any help would be great.

I would use a small non-modal dialog, set to corner of screen, with an image on it, and set it to "stay on top". See example here:
