
Be sure that the remote system has an updated version of Macro Scheduler installed.
The help file is very clear:
I was about to submit a request here for help after too much time troubleshooting a connection that would not connect.Macro Scheduler 7.3.02 or above is required.
I went back to the Help file and re-read the instructions.
Sure enough, my problem was that the remote machine only had 7.2.50 installed.

I upgraded remote machine to 7.3.06 and all is well.
