EXIT

Post by armsys » Tue Dec 28, 2004 9:50 am

In accordance with the online help, the command will close Macro Scheduler. In actuality, it won't because most likely the Macro Scheduler is set to "minimized" on "Close Button." Since the Macro Scheduler won't EXIT in effect, the running script continues running. It's somewhat illogical!

My question of interest is: Can EXIT stops a running script? Well, my test shows it won't under the latest vesion. Neither does the current version include a command to abort a running script unless we use Goto>End with Label>End as the last statement of the script.

Therefore, perhaps, it's a good idea to empower EXIT with aborting the running the script. Just my two cents.

This is talking about the EXIT menu function under File/Exit. It is not a command. It WILL always exit Macro Scheduler. It is in the help file under menu options not the command reference.

Sorry for my reading mistake. However, on my online help, there's no indication that EXIT is a menu option. Thanks for your correction.

It is in the "Menu Commands" topic!

To resolve this matter, I just went to Macro Scheduler HELP.
Went to the Index, entered "EXIT", then double-clicked on the "Exit" in the list and got this detailed explanation:
Closes Macro Scheduler
So I guess the real issue is how to provide the distinction between Command References and Menu Commands and other topics that come up in the Help Menu. It depends on how you get there. If you just do a simple search as I did above, then there is no explanation that this is not a command.

(Just a third party observation, not taking sides on this one...... )
Macro Scheduler is a great product in spite of this discussion.
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,
Bob

Bob,

Thanks for your rescue. That's exactly the siutation I encountered. The entire window displaying EXIT gives no hint that it's a menu option. Bob, I have no "side." This isn't a big issue. It's just a matter of different views. Moreover, the support was kind enough to to quickly correct my mistaken view.

Thanks again for your 3rd party eyewithness account. Happy New Year.
