help with writing script for Abobe Premiere needed.

Post by urigrod » Wed Oct 26, 2005 12:11 pm

Hi,

I am using Adobe Premiere 6.5 for Video analyses (I am a zoologist) and I want to write a script to do the following:

While working my way along a timeline (I do this manually), whenever I press a certain button - a section of the video file (MPEG 1) from the timeline should be saved as a video file (MPEG as well).

The section should start at the frame that is on the monitor at the time the button is pressed (the edit line is of course on that frame as well), and end exactly 3 seconds later.

Also, If possible I would like to be able to control the name given to the file

I am a zoologist and haven't written a script in my life, but was told "this is easy, just post a question on the forum and the Folkes there will fix you up with something".

Thanks a lot, I hope this is indeed easy,

Uri

Hi,

It may be easy for someone with a copy of Adobe Premiere. I'm afraid we don't have it here so I won't be able to help personally. But hopefully someone else out there has a copy and can give you some help.

You may actually find you are the best person to do this as you understand the process and you use the software you need to automate. You just need to learn a few scripting techniques. The best way to do that is to run through the "Beginners Guide to Scripting Windows" in the help file. Even if someone else is to help you write this script it would benefit you to run through the tutorial so that you understand what is going on.
