FindImagePos/ScreenCapture 's Ambiguous JPG Support

Post by armsys » Mon Feb 07, 2011 2:41 pm

The online manual never explicitly mentions the support of jpg files.
For ScreenCapture, the FileName can be named .bmp or .jpg.
For FindImagePos, it only mentions .bmp.
Please clarify. Thanks.

Make two identical small image files. Make one a bmp and make the other a jpg. The bmp will identically match the area you captured. The jpg will approximate the area you captured. In other words you can't use a jpg for matching because it won't be the same.

Screen capture allows you to capture an image to a jpg because they can be smaller files and you might only be capturing the image for display on a button or a dialog background. Visually jpg files are ok.
