RetrievePOP3 Not Retrieving Body

Post by BobL » Fri Mar 09, 2007 8:17 pm

When I use SMTPSendMail to send an email, the body of the message appears properly when viewed on the server using my ISPs email program. However, when I retrieve it (using RetrievePOP3), the body does not appear in the message file. All the other information appears correctly. The message does have an attachment. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just wanted to add that, upon further testing, the lost message seems only to happen when the message contains an attached file.

We've fixed this by improving RetrievePOP3 for the next release so that it will decode attachments and save body parts to a separate file. For backward compatibility reasons it will continue to save the entire file as it does now (even though sometimes the body appears missing) but will also save attachments and body sections. E.g. A message containing one bitmap attachment called picture.bmp would download as:

MSG1.TXT
MSG1_BODY1.TXT
MSG1_picture.bmp

The first MSG1.TXT is to be compatible with current versions - this is what they do. The next two give you the body in one file and the attachment in another. There can sometimes be several text parts in an email, hence BODY1 - there could be BODY1.TXT and BODY2.TXT etc.
