Can't Import Macros

Post by fightcancer » Sun Jun 25, 2006 5:28 pm

When I use File | Import Macros and select my macros folder and everything in it MS says "Imported 1 Macros" even though there are over 20. When I select any other single macro and try to import it MS says "Impored 0 Macros". Is the import feature broken or are my macros suddenly corrupt?

Thanks

OK, problem solved by restoring some deleted files.

FYI, I got curious and started troubleshooting. First I closed MS. Then I restored these files from my Recycle Bin.

macros.dat 0KB
groups.dat 1KB
groups.ini 1KB

Last I reopened MS and had to remap the path for my 3 groups. (Previously, I had had to delete those 3 files because I was unable to click on any of the 3 folders even though they appeared under "All Macros". This phenomenon occurred after uninstalling trial 8.0.1e and updating to the 8.0.3e trial.)

After I had deleted those 3 files there were no more ghost folders which I could not click on. However, since I had deleted the files I could not import my macros. So I uninstalled the 8.0.3e trial and reinstalled the 8.0.1e trial but I still couldn't import macros as I had deleted the critical 3 files; hence, my posting this thread.

Anyway, if I recalled my sequence of steps correctly, it appears there may be something quirky about updating from 8.0.1e to 8.0.3e trials. Of course, I may not be recalling precisely and I may have deleted a critical file before I intially tried importing in 8.0.3e.

Cannot Import Macros after Upgrade....

Post by Waldo » Sun Oct 22, 2006 11:09 pm

I just experienced a similar problem after upgrading from 8.03 to 8.1 ...
No matter how many existing macros I selected to import, the answer was always "Imported 0 macros"

During the previous install, I had selected "Minimum Installation"... and that must be where the bug is that causes this problem.

I reinstalled MacroScheduler selecting "Complete Installation" along with all other default options...and now the Import feature works as normal.

That may fix your problem.

I just had this problem again and fixed it by mapping the General group's path to "D:\Program Files\Macro Scheduler\Samples" and then then importing the macro FindColorExample.scp from that directory (i.e. D:\Program Files\Macro Scheduler\Samples\FindColorExample.scp).

(I also reinstalled before this last corrective measure.)
