Suport for the new Microsoft Edge browser

Post by Heinz57 » Sun Aug 23, 2015 12:06 am

Hello Mr. Tettmar,

since I am planning several software products and some major internal investments into MacroScheduler (SDK) based software I am wondering about any upcoming support for the new Microsoft Edge browser.

Could you please let us know some of your current decisions and your knowledge for example about the support for the COM interface by Edge?!

Thank you in advance

Hi,

At this stage we don't know much about what COM support is available in Edge. Information is scant at this stage. IE11 is still supplied with Windows 10. Any apps that embed IE will use that automatically. E.g. WebRecorder will show the IE11 browser within it. For the IE function wizard you would need to work against IE11.

So right now the honest answer is "I don't know". I'm still trying to find out what is possible and then we have to decide whether there is any advantage in supporting it when IE11 is still present anyway. It may be that Microsoft intend IE11 to be used for embedded apps/automation.

Did you know we are now offering affordable monthly subscriptions for Macro Scheduler Standard?
