Macro Scheduler on Windows Servers - multiple desktops

Post by gdyvig » Tue Apr 28, 2009 4:06 pm

I have run Macro Scheduler compiled macros on multiple simultaneous Windows Server 2003 remote desktop sessions and on the admin(console) session, but have never installed Macro Scheduler on a Windows Server.

I can also install Macro Scheduler on a XP machine and run mstsc to access the window server desktops. But here I want to see what the limits are to running Macro Scheduler directly on a server.

Since a Windows Server supports multiple simultaneous remote desktops, I assume that each desktop would require a license, though it it appears to rely on the honor system to ensure I have not exceeded the allowed number of licenses for all active desktops across all servers.

Is Macro Scheduler QA'd or supported for a multiple desktops on a server?
For a single deskop configuration?

Would I install Macro Scheduler once on the server for all active desktops?
Foresee any problems running multiple desktops simultaneously?
Logged on as same user?
Logged on as different users?

Can msNet run macros against specific remote/admin desktops?

Thanks,

Gale

You need to install into different user accounts.

Logged on as same user you could run into problems as they would all be trying to access/update the same files/registry settings.

So you want to install into different users.

Licensing is concurrent. There is a network license check. So you would need a license code that covers you for the number of users running the software at any one time.

Did you know we are now offering affordable monthly subscriptions for Macro Scheduler Standard?

Concurrent licensing for all versions?

Hi Marcus,

One more clarification - is concurrent licensing for all versions of Macro Scheduler - Standard, Pro, and Enterprise?

Thanks,

Gale
