I don't like it all! There are no advanced filter options like search by members name, forum title etc. Now all I get is "Windows Scripting, Windows Macro Automation, Windows Macro ..." instead of the topic title and a little portion of the post

Can we have at least an option to use the old forum search instead of being forced to use google search which is not helpful at all and is making searching the forum for what you are looking for harder?
I love google, it's the only search engine I use but this stinks!

I agree with Rain. The Google search has some some improvements but the titles of each search hit that are returned .."Windows Scripting, Windows Macro Automation, Windows Macro" are sometimes not useful. I much prefer the older search.

Google search does have some advantages if you use the advanced options, and I'm surely no fan of phpbb's search, but why can't we have both? I'm pretty sure I've seen that option on other phpbb sites.

Hi
Rain,
I agree - I also missed the phpBB search and used the contact form to send a note to Marcus a little while ago saying why I missed it. I didn't see your post here at that point... or I would have added to your poll.
Even better though... I see that the Google and phpBB searches are now
*both* available for the forums so all I can say is... thanks Marcus... much appreciated.

Great, thanks
To limit the Google search to just the Forum include
site:www.mjtnet.com/usergroup in the search string.
To see the value of Google search try a query for
.ini in both

The standard phpBB search system has issues in browsers like IE. When you enter a search result and then hit the back button to get back to the search results you get a warning that the page has expired and must hit refresh to rebuild the search results.
Around a year ago Google Site Search was added to the site. Since then the search page has been as it is now - the Google Site Search at the top and then the standard phpBB search below. But as an experiment a few days ago I replaced the phpBB search form with a Google search box which did a search with
site:www.mjtnet.com/usergroup added to the search terms to limit results to the forum only, exactly as Me_again describes above.
However, this also has its limitations and doesn't give summaries quite as helpful as the phpBB ones. In view of this and the feedback received I have switched things back to how they were before the change.
