Running macro list options/Break/Pause questions

Post by Bob Hansen » Wed Jan 02, 2008 4:41 pm

Ref Version 10.013

From upgrade notes: Tray hint shows list of running macros.

I am unable to see the list of running macros.

How do I know if macro is "paused"? I have macro running and I see flashing icon in tray, but cannot see list of running macros. Press "pause" but icon continues to flash like it is running. Pressing "pause" again, has no effect.

------------------------
I am unable to see "Break" on any tray item.

From HELP:

The menu that pops up from the icon in the task bar also has an option called 'Break'. This works like the stop button and allows you to cancel the execution of a script. This option is available even when a script is executed automatically by the scheduler.
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,
Bob

Hover the mouse over the system tray while a macro is running.

The menu says "Stop" not "Break" - think this must have been changed some time back but the help file never updated.

Thanks Marcus.

That takes care of "Break".
I see two icons, one for Macro Scheduler Main panel, and one for macro running. Note, that my system (XP PRO SP2) requires a right click on running macro vs. a hover. Hover does not work on either icon.

Now, how do I see a list of running macros? Just the visibillity of icon in systray? What if started with -HIDE ?

And how can I tell if PAUSE has worked?
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,
Bob

Two icons!? Macro Scheduler places only ONE icon in the system tray. If you are referring to an icon belonging to a compiled macro then none of this applies.

If you HOVER over the MACRO SCHEDULER icon a tool tip will present itself. If no macro is running this tool tip will say "Macro Scheduler 10". It has ALWAYS, ever since version 1.0 in 1997, done this (save for the version number being different).

Now, if you hover over this icon (in the system tray) when a macro is/macros are running you will see this/those macros listed in the tooltip.

This relates to MACRO SCHEDULER. Has nothing whatsoever to do with compiled macros.

If you use -NOSYSTRAY to remove the system tray icon then clearly you won't see any of this.

Not behaving as you describe, that is why I am posting the question.

I have two icons. One normal, one flashing for running scp file (Version 10 sample script - TextCapture Example).

HOVER over either systray icon shows "Macro Scheduler 10"
Right Click on flashing does show STOP as option, no name.
Right click on steady blue icon has STOP greyed out, all other options match.

Have no way knowing which macro is running. See no list.

Just started "Compare Screen Examples" script (Version 9 samples), now have three icons, two flashing, same status re HOVER/Right Click.

Need to connect?
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,

Erm, ok, I think it sounds like you are starting macros from OUTSIDE Macro Scheduler by double clicking on the .scp files? That will cause you to have one icon for each macro running. Macro Scheduler itself only creates ONE icon.

The running macro notification only relates to macros that are run from WITHIN Macro Scheduler.

Run Macro Scheduler - itself. You should have ONE icon in the system tray for Macro Scheduler. Locate a macro showing INSIDE Macro Scheduler. Run it by clicking on the Run button on the Macro Scheduler toolbar. Note that the status bar shows that it is running - the status bar says "Running: macroname". This has been the case for years. If more than one were running it would show a list here. Hover over the main Macro Scheduler icon in the system tray and you will also see this list there. This is what is new - it is just the same status as has always been shown in the status bar.

If you run .scp files outside of Macro Scheduler, Macro Scheduler knows nothing about them.

This running status indicator relates to macros run from WITHIN Macro Scheduler. Not exes and not scripts run from Explorer outside of Macro Scheduler.

AHA .. once again, you are correct. Scripts were from outside.

I was running the two other macros by double clicking on files in folders vs. running from within Macro Scheduler.

I am familiar with running script name in status bar, and I was now able to see running macro name while doing HOVER on single icon, no right click needed. When multiple scripts are running from WITHIN, all are listed. I just tested three macros, see comma delimited macro names in alphabetical order.

Thanks for the added feature and the tutorial.
I have a whole page of new features to check out in Version 10. 8)

I am feeling like a novice right now. Sorry to waste your time.
