Macro File Import to wrong folder

Using 7.2.034 with WIN98ME

Problem:
Doing File, Import Macros results in imported file in All Macros group vs. desired group if Import Settings is also selected.

To duplicate the problem:

Marcro Tree:
All Macros

.......SS
.......Test

Wanted to make a copy of macro in SS to modify and use in Test. Did the following:

Highlighted Test group. Did File Import Macros, Highlighted Source of SS folder, highlighted macro ABC to be imported. Selected to Import settings, and selected macros.dat source. Clicked OK. Got message window "Imported 1 Macros", clicked OK. Macro ABC1 did not show up in Test group. Macro ABC1 did show up in All Macros however. I then had to drag it from All Macros to Test. This was not what should be expected as normal desired behavior.

Tried again, but did not select Import Settings. Did the following:

Deleted Macro ABC1 from Test group
Highlighted Test group. Did File Import Macros, Highlighted Source of SS folder, highlighted macro ABC to be imported. Did not select to Import settings. Clicked OK. Got message window "Imported 1 Macros", clicked OK. Macro ABC1 came in to Test group OK. This is normal desired behavior.

Final Observation:
One would expect that the imported macro should be coming into the highlighted group with or without getting the settings. If settings are selected, then the settings should keep all the existing properties except the group should be changed from the original group to the destination group. But final destination should not be affected by the choice to use existing settings.

Guess what? I just tried this, following your steps, but couldn't replicate. The file was imported into the current group no problem. Weird. Anything else you think might be relevant?

Guess what, I just tried it three times in a row and it did not fail either.

Then it did fail! And then it failed again, but slightly differently the second time. After I deleted the successful import to try by calling macros.dat, I got a message that "Imported 0 Macros".

So, at this point, I cannot import this macro at all.

I figured that this must be related to the macros.dat file. In looking at that file, the only unique thing that popped out was that this is scheduled to run 7 days a week. Here is a copy of macros.dat with the problem macro (Minimal Backups) highlighted in red.

Additional tests allow import again:

Tried importing Minimal Backups to a different folder. Appeared to worked OK three times by not selecting macros.dat. Then selected macros.dat and got same as before: message=OK, but macro is in All Macros vs. New Folder (JHS). Drag macro from All Macros to JHS, it appears OK. I look in macros.dat and it is not listed in JHS, only in SS. Figured that macros.dat might not be refreshed until closing. Closed Macro Scheduler Control Panel, looked at macros.dat, still not listed in JHS. Closed Macro Scheduler from Systray. Restarted Macro Scheduler, and macro no longer shows in JHS folder where I just saw it previously. I seem to be getting indications that perhaps the timing of the macros.dat file may be the area to be reviewed?

And now I cannot import that file again to JHS even though it is not there, not visible on Control Panel, and not listed in JHS or Test folders. Get message that "Imported 0 Macros" again.

What I am seeing is intermittent success and failures, the worst type of problem to diagnose!
