Hi Marcus,

What is the status on Bug #57 - SMTPSendMail Needs Timeout :?:

SMTPSendMail will suspend a script waiting for port 25 of a mail server to return a listening status. It will wait forever if the port does not respond. If unattended, this can cause an indefinite wait for a server.

We need a built-in setting, switch or option to set a timeout for SMTPSendMail.

SMTPSendMail suspends a script waiting for port 25 of a mail server. It will wait forever if the server is kaput.
Will we be getting a new System Variable for a timeout value here? Whatever the answer, please also update the BugTracker entry as well... please and thanks.

[Open] PlayWav command that plays from embedded script data
...then please add your thoughts/support at the above post - :-)

Unfortunately the current synchronous smtp send mail implementation won't easily allow for a timeout. It may need a complete rewrite. It is on the list. Unlikely to make it into 9.0. But we'll see.
