Dialog Box enhancements

Post by Bob Hansen » Wed Mar 26, 2003 8:08 pm

Using 7.2.028

Love the new Dialog Boxes. Super addition for user interface. You are spoiling us, the more we get, the more we want, see the following....

A few enhancement requests for Dialog Boxes:

:!: 1. Option to make the Dialog box Modal
:!: 2. Options about which control boxes allowed. Don't always want user to be able to resize, minimize, move, etc.
:!: 3. Add a graphics control for icons
:!: 4. Add color, fonts, bold, underline, etc. for Label, button controls.
:!: 5. (Will not ask for spell checking, can live without that) :D

Thanks again.....
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,
Bob

Dialog boxes *are* modal. That's what dialogs are - modal forms.

Re your other suggestions they will be added to the wish list.

Perhaps I am using Modal incorrectly. :?:

 Currently if I have a dialolg box open, I can minimize it, and do other activities on the computer. The macro is on hold (Modal?) waiting for the Dialog box response, but I don't want someone to be able to get the box out of the way and do other things. (I am typing this now while I have a Close Windows box minimized). I expected Modal to inhibit all other processes until responded to. (I just resized the Dialog box, and cancelled it). :?

So call it whatever is necessary, I guess the inclusion of items in my #2 list will take of that. If they have none of the window control boxes, then they will be forced to respond to the dialog box.

Thanks for listening. Getting spoileder and spoilder. :D

Modal means the process that displayed it doesn't continue until it has been closed.

You want to make the box modal to the entire system!? That is inadvisable and dangerous. Not even sure it is possible.

However, we can consider adding options to remove the system menu and border icons.

Just wanted the option to have a specific Dialog modal to the entire system, not every dialog box.

But again, the other options will get me pretty close. I think I can live with that. :D

Who says we don't know how to make diplomacy work? Thanks again......

Hi,
I have been using MS pro for over a year now mainly for writing programs to play online games automatically.
:!: 1. Option to make the Dialog box Modal
:!: 2. Options about which control boxes allowed. Don't always want user to be able to resize, minimize, move, etc.
:!: 3. Add a graphics control for icons
:!: 4. Add color, fonts, bold, underline, etc. for Label, button controls.
As to 1: I use the dialog to give our users the option to pause the program, sometimes the game is so big that the dialog is hidden behind the game making it hard to use the pause feature. That would be a nice option to have.
As to 2: An option not being able to minimize or maximize the dialog would be great and appreciated.
As to 3: Those are some awesome features I’ve been waiting for, may I suggest or request an option to customize the toolbar title as well. My dialog says the program title “My Programâ€Â
