Why do I need Automation Software?

Anyone who spends a lot of time working on a computer needs automation software. While computers have become more and more advanced we still seem to be spending more and more time using them and many of the tasks we perform on a computer are repetitive, cumbersome, time consuming or intricate and error prone. Many of these tasks can be automated.

So often we find ourselves typing the same keystrokes day after day. Copying data from one screen and entering it into another, e.g. copying from an email into a spreadsheet, copying between emails or copying from one screen and pasting into a web form. These things can be automated with automation software.

If you want to avoid mundane repetition, decrease human error and get on with real work you need automation software.

What can I use Automation Software for. You can use it for almost anything. But here are some examples:

  • Eliminating Repetitive Data Entry
  • Automating Software Installations
  • Automating and Scheduling System & Network Tasks
  • Data Retrieval and Data Consolidation
  • Interfacing Multiple Incompatible Applications
  • Automating File Transfers and Internet Downloads
  • Screen Scraping – Screen Text Capture
  • Automating & Simpiflying ERP System Tasks
  • Automating Internet and Web Tasks (See WebRecorder)
  • Automatically Replying to Emails
  • Extracting Data & Generating Reports
  • Automated Software & Web Testing
  • Batching Multiple Tasks Together
  • Monitoring Applications
  • Automating Mortgage Loan Locking
  • Automating document imaging and filing of medical records
  • Automating game play at home
  • Transferring data from screen to screen
  • Copying data out of Excel and into a web form
  • Copying sales data from emails into your financial system
  • Pasting tailored, boilerplate responses into emails
  • Anything … what do you do ALL day? Chances are you can automate some of it

Any task can be simplified and automated by combining all the key sequences and mouse clicks into one macro. The macro could then be fired via a hot key or schedule, so it could even take place at night while you’re sleeping!
