Is it possible to protect folders with passwords using Macro Scheduler and/or VBScript?

Well in NT,2k,XP I don't think you can password protect folders anyway. Instead you use user accounts and permissions. And I expect it is possible to create/modify user accounts with VBScript.

Might want to try Folder Password Expert free trial. Registered price is $40 USD.

From their site:
* Reliable folder protection.
Should your PС be rebooted in Windows Safe Mode, DOS or another operating system, your data is safe.

* Password security.
Unlike other utilities, Folder Password Expert never stores the passwords on your hard drive or in the Windows registry, where malicious users can easily get them. It stores only the password checksum (unique ID), which cannot be used to get your passwords.

* Support for USB external and flash drives.
If the drive is lost or stolen, your confidential information won't end up in the wrong hands. Click here for more information on Password-Protecting Folders on External and Removable Drives.

Free trial

Use Folder Password Expert for 30 days on your computer. Feel how easy it is to protect folders against unwanted access. If you like the program, purchase the full version. If you don't, contact us and we'll find a solution for you.

Click here to download Folder Password Expert (790 KB).
What happens after the trial period expires?

Unlike other utilities, Folder Password Expert lets you unprotect your folders whenever you want, long after the trial period expires. It's unfair that other companies insist that you buy the full version of their software in order to unprotect your folders.
What is your upgrade policy?

Very simple. You get free upgrades to all future versions. Isn't it nice to know you can always download the latest version of Folder Password Expert from this site and you don't have to pay a cent for it.
Hope this was helpful..................good luck,
Bob

Hello Bob,

Thanks for your very kind assistance. One critical factor that Folder Password Expert fails to interest me is its lacking support of inline comamnds. In my Macro Scheduler applications, the folder lock/unlock activities are constant and frequent. Therefore, it should be fully automated by Macro Scheduler.

Instead, I'll use WinZip Command Line to accomplish the data-protection job. Simple and easy. My clients won't have to learn new procedures. Every step is automated by Macro Scheduler.
