FTP Mode -why no automatic option

Post by bbrink » Fri Jul 26, 2019 1:39 pm

Hello,

My understanding is that FTP protocol moves files as ASCII or Binary based on the file extension. Yet the FTP command in Macro Scheduler requires us to specify A/I for ASCII or Binary.

Is there a safe choice or automatic option?

Unless you are moving Windows text files to be viewed on a UNIX machine, just use binary. Binary does not modify the file, ASCII might.

Google "FTP binary vs ascii" for millions of explanations.
