Re: background script needs to notify logged in user

JRL, Thank you for the thoughtful response. Your method can be adopted for a lot of things is very flexible. I also found that this works on any machine powershell is installed on. Keep in mind my need was for message to pop on local machine, not another machine. If you need to message another machi...

Re: background script needs to notify logged in user

Hi Marcus,

I should have mentioned, by "in the background" I meant I am logged into Windows on their computer as another user. I don't think message modal will work for that will it?

background script needs to notify logged in user

Hi I run scripts in the background of the computer and have one that needs to notify the logged in user when it finishes. Just about any type of notification message box or pop up bubble would be fine. Example: "We've upgraded your application in the background and you can start using it again." How...

Re: HTMLViewer -read up and display a single page?

Wow, I see what you mean about messy. I know browsers did a lot of heavy lifting but it is quite something to put it up against the viewer. Instead of HTML, I could output c:\mydocs\helloworld.jpg -that would eliminate the formating issues except the length of the jpg may exceed the dialog. If I use...

HTMLViewer -read up and display a single page?

Hi, Can the HTMLViewer be fed a single HTML page from a known location? If so how? I have c:\mydocs\helloworld.html The html file gets written by another program, I want to write a script that can read it up and display it. I do not want to use a browser because I need to lock this down. Thanks in a...

Re: maximized dialog-busting my chops...

Hi,

I changed Position = poDefaultSizeOnly to Position = poScreenCenter and things are working better now.

I also stumbled back into the sample scripts that install with MS. I had forgotten about them, they are a great examples!

Thanks for your help,

Bob

Re: maximized dialog-busting my chops...

Hi,

I am using the latest version of Ms, 14.3. I started the script in 14.2 but upgraded earlier today. I will review the samples you posted and report back regardless of results. Thank you very much!

Hi, I am creating a kiosk application, I need it to fill the screen on a 1024 x 768 monitor. If it is any easier, this is the only size monitor it will be run on. the app only consists of one non-modal dialog. I need to know the relevant properties to set for the dialog itself as well as for element...

OS_VER not detecting upgrade to Windows 10

Hi,

In my somewhat limited testing if a computer was upgrade to Windows 10, OS_VER detects the original version. My Windows 10 computer returns NT.6.2.9200 (Windows 8.1)

Can someone show me a better way to detect current OS? I need to use it in compiled scripts that run silently.

Thanks,

Bob

get filename of current spreadsheet

Hi, User opens a spreadhseet and then executes a macro I wrote. Right now I have to ask them for a date and they type it in. The date is actually part of the spreadsheet file name. What's the best way to get the filename as a string and then pull the date out? Example filename is: "My file Name 2011...

I can't remember any more hotkeys, recommend a launch pad?

Hi, I love my Macro Scheduler and have lots of HotKeys set up. Some of the more seldom used Macros I envoke from the tree-view. I'd liketo find another way to launch the macros I only need every day or two. Anyone know of a good "launch pad" "tool bar" whatever you want to call it? -Basicly a GUI fo...

Marcus,

Thanks again for the clarification. I understand now. In retrospect I probably should have provided more information earlier, instead I was trying to keep it simple and failed at that! Kudos to you, thanks again!
