{"id":764,"date":"2009-09-18T11:12:32","date_gmt":"2009-09-18T11:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mjtnet.com\/blog\/?p=764"},"modified":"2009-09-18T12:45:45","modified_gmt":"2009-09-18T12:45:45","slug":"fun-with-chinese-windows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mjtnet.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/18\/fun-with-chinese-windows\/","title":{"rendered":"Fun with Chinese Windows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As you may have noticed, in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mjtnet.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/17\/macro-scheduler-11114-update\/\">last Macro Scheduler update<\/a> we fixed a problem that prevented compiled macros from running on Chinese Windows.  This probably affected other non-Western language versions of Windows too.  It took us a while to track down this little bug even though, as is often the case, it turned it to be a simple little thing.  <\/p>\n<p>In order to replicate the problem quickly I installed the Chinese Simplified version of Windows XP into a Virtual Machine.  That was interesting when I have no knowledge of Chinese whatsoever.  Luckily (or unluckily) I&#8217;ve installed XP so many times I knew from the location of each option what each one did. Maybe if they don&#8217;t understand what the screen says they can&#8217;t muck it up &#8230;oh wait &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/gallery\/mg20227061900-exploring-the-exploding-internet\/8\">490 million Chinese Internet users soon to outnumber the rest of us<\/a>, I&#8217;m glad this little bug has been squashed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As you may have noticed, in the last Macro Scheduler update we fixed a problem that prevented compiled macros from running on Chinese Windows.
