Earn Points, Win a T-Shirt

PostPosted: Wed Jan 21, 2009 11:49 am    Post subject: Reputation System - Get Free T-Shirts Reply with quote

The forum has a new reputation system. Help people out to receive points. Receive points and get a T-Shirt

Here's how it works.

    - As of 21st January 2009 all users have 100 points.
    - You can reward points to other users.
    - Points you reward are deducted from your own, so it's like a currency.
    - For every 10 points you reward someone you will be rewarded 1 bonus point.
    - The user's points are shown in the Author info panel to the left of their post.
    - You can deduct points from someone, but you will also lose that number of points. Not sure how I feel about being able to deduct points but there's no incentive to do so anyway, so I would discourage this.
I encourage everyone to reward points to the person who you think helped you the most.

Free T-Shirts for the Highest Earners

At the start of each month I will send a free MJT Net Gearhead T-Shirt (or Mug or Mousemat) to the three people who gain the most points in the previous month. See the merchandise here:

A few rules:

    - Any attempts to fool the system will be penalised. You cannot reward yourself and you lose points for rewarding others so there's nothing to gain by setting up accounts and rewarding yourself.
    - Final results are at my discretion - if the same people keep winning I reserve the right to pick the people with the next highest reputation.
    - I will not include myself or Paul (or other support staff) in the results.
    - I reserve the right to stop this promotion at any time, but my intention is that this will be an ongoing thing. Let's see how it goes.
I hope this makes sense. At this stage it's a bit of an experiment. Let's see how it works. But I encourage everyone to get involved. Start helping people out and earn reputation points!

BTW - Feel free to go ahead and reward users you think deserve points retrospectively.
